–DESCRIPTION–
Let’s Dance is a mixtape exploring the samples that contributed to a lot of my favorite dance music. DJ Neil Armstrong has been a huge influence on me both as a DJ and a music lover. This mixtape is definitely a tip of the cap to his ‘Original’ series. Let’s dance covers house, techno, dubstep, trap, funk, nu wave, samba, disco, hip hop, latin funk and a lot more. It’s all about blending the old with the new to create a mix that is fun to listen to, and might also teach you a little bit about where it all came from.
If you enjoy Let’s Dance, please pass it on to someone else!
–INFO–
I started tracking Let’s Dance in 2011, shortly after I moved to LA. I wanted to give this thing time to breathe so I only returned to it intermittently when something new had inspired me to take the next step. It was important to me to create a mixtape that I could perform almost the same live. I recorded the mix in 2-4 songs segments, re-recording each section until I got it right. I didn’t want this to sound like an Ableton mix where everything is perfectly aligned. You will definitely hear my hands on the records. That’s just the deal when you are blending classic boogaloo with 90s electronic pop. I like that organic feel in my mixtapes.

HUGE shouts to actor and hilarious motherfucker Jon Woodward Kirby for his top-notch Christopher Walken impression. Robot Eating Dragon was a big part of both this project and my introduction to dance music in general. If not for his contributions, this mixtape would not exist. Much love to all my Gratuity fam, you guys are the reason I love DJing. Large ups to my DJ crew, The Playground Legends: DJ Son, DJ Dos-A & Van Valey. Peace to everyone who has supported me in LA. See you on the dance floor!
